Born in Hyogo and based in Kobe, Nobuhiro Umeno works in two contrasting realms of transparent watercolor: realistic painting under his real name Nobuhiro Umeno, and imaginative painting under the name Mouen.

In his realistic works, Umeno carefully captures the quiet presence and memories embedded in specific places, revealing the “tangible reality” found within everyday landscapes.

As the representative of the Transparent Watercolor Study Group (TWS), he is also active in exhibitions, education, and material research alongside watercolor artists across Japan.
